Tekken Blood Vengeance. If you want something done right...

...you have to do it yourself, is likely what was going through Namco's mind as they watched the mediocre live action film Hollywood released back in 2010. After disappointing both fans and the Tekken developers, Namco has decided to follow in the footsteps of both Square Enix and Capcom to release a CG animated film showing those studio fat cats just how it's done. From the look of the trailer (found below) it will prove to be a much welcomed addition to the franchise with stunning visuals and plenty of action from your favourite Iron Fist challengers. The Tekken CG animated film is yet to receive a release date so stay tuned for future updates.

Mortal Kombat live action webisodes

If you are a fan of the Mortal Kombat series you may have noticed an 8 minute "fan" trailer titled: Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, casually making its way around the internet. Directed by Kevin Tancharoen (The Fame remake) and starring Jeri Ryan (Star Trek V.) as Sonya Blade and Michael Jai White (Spawn) as Jax the trailer portrayed a more serious and realistic tone than that of the previous two studio movies. Originally created as a proof of concept for Warner Brothers Tancharoen's aim was to showcase what he could do in terms of a remake, but instead of a studio film he acquired the rights to create a mini series now known as Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

With each episode nearing the 13 minute mark the hard edged reincarnation brings a breath of fresh air to the series ditching the magical/fantasy themes for modern day bullets and grit. From the first episode it's clear that it has potential in terms of story and action, Sonya and Jax aren't just being thrown into an organized one on one death match, there is more of a natural progression stemming from the heat of a gun battle to a disarmed showdown between Jax and Kano. As interesting as the remake is the fighting choreography could do with some work, seeming lifeless and lacking a sense of urgency as if it was being preformed by a robot. As of yet only the first episode has been released so one would expect the choreography to improve as the actors practice for the next installment.

Overall it was enjoyable to watch, not crazy wet my pants enjoyable but "yea that's pretty cool" enjoyable and is definitely something i'll be keeping my eye on. You can find both the original MK:Rebirth trailer and MK:Legacy episode 1 below, so feel free to decide for yourself weather this remake is heading in the right direction.

SUPER Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Leakage

SUPER Street Fighter IV has kicked it up a notch by introducing new DLC closing the content gap between the console and arcade versions. The DLC named SUPER Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition or "SSFIVAE" for short, will be introducing 4 new playable characters: Evil Ryu, Yun & Yang and a new contender, Oni. There will be support for alternate costumes and animated character prologues and endings for the Arcade mode. As well as fresh faces you'll be introduced to the Elite replay channel which showcases fighters who have managed to accumulate PP (Player Points) of 3000 or greater. This should be a worthy purchase for any Street Fighter fan out there. Details on the release date and cost are still to come.

Also please be advised Capcom has removed the trailer from the source once, it's likely to happen again. (Why so butthurt capcom?)

Final Fantasy V coming to PSN

It's been officially announced that the PSOne version of Final Fantasy V is being uploaded to the Play Station Network for both PSP anf PS3. It will feature all full FMV cutscenes as well as the classic ATB combat system that i'm sure many veterans have missed. No date has yet been listed but i'm sure you will agree it is reassuring to know that it is on the way. For those of you who are not already aware, Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX are currently on the Play Station Network and Final Fantasy VI is on the Wii's virtual store so they should keep you busy until V's release.

The zombie revolution will be televised

Mario: The master of masters

Now any gamer worth his salt has at some point heard of the famous steroid enhanced uppercut: Shoryuken, performed by both Ken and Ryu from the Street Fighter series. Those of you who bothered to shell out a fresh £40 for SUPER Street Fighter IV are likely to have noticed newcomer Gouken, the Mister Miyagi to Ken and Ryu who taught them the legendary move but who pray tell educated the master? Well there's only one man in gaming history that is old and wise enough to bestow such wisdom. Yeah that's right, the chubby Italian midget, Mario.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon

So it seems all the whispering we've been hearing about a Resident Evil multiplayer are indeed true. Game developers Slant Six who brought you numerous SOCOM titles are currently developing Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Details are still scarce yet it is known that you will be returning to the settings of earlier Resident Evil games (yes the title was a big giveaway with that one), in this team based game you'll be introduced to four new members of the Umbrella Corps Security Squad: Vector, Beltway, Bertha, and Spectre.

As members of UCSS you'll be going up against two other factions: US Spec Ops and Umbrella Bio weapons while you make your way through the city burning evidence and "assisting" survivors. And just to clarify when i say assisting, what i actually mean is luring them into a false sense of security and ventilating them Tarantino style. Umbrella is famous for keeping secrets afterall, a zombie outbreak appears to be just another day at the office.

At such an early stage of development rumors of release dates are already floating around, some say 2012, others for this Autumn but judging from how long it actually takes to create and release games these days i wouldn't tell you to expect to see it on the shelves any earlier than 2013.

Keep your eyes on this space for future updates.
